很多人在剛到一個(gè)陌生的環(huán)境之后，會(huì)覺得渾身不自在，需要一段時(shí)間來(lái)適應(yīng)。今天我們來(lái)學(xué)幾個(gè)跟這種情況相關(guān)的表達(dá)。
第一個(gè)是trying to find my feet，意為“我正在努力適應(yīng)新環(huán)境”。其它類似說(shuō)法還有：
i’m trying to orientate myself.
我在盡力適應(yīng)。
i’m trying to settle in.
我在努力習(xí)慣（新工作/新居等）
i’m learning the ropes.
我正在學(xué)習(xí)掌握竅門。
下面我們來(lái)看一個(gè)關(guān)于適應(yīng)新環(huán)境的對(duì)話，注意里面的習(xí)語(yǔ)：
gordon: us 8, uk 42. ferrare cavallo. heel…(lying on couch & examining a pair of shoes)
戈登: 美國(guó)碼8號(hào)、英國(guó)碼42號(hào)、意大利真皮、鞋后跟……（躺在沙發(fā)上，反復(fù)觀看一雙皮鞋）
katherine: hurry up! you’ll be late for work. what are you doing?
凱瑟琳: 快點(diǎn)！你快遲到了，你在干什么？
gordon: i’m a little bit worried about my new job. i’m trying to find my feet.
戈登: 我只是有點(diǎn)擔(dān)心新工作，我正嘗試適應(yīng)新環(huán)境。
katherine: that’s the trouble then. you deserve the boot.
凱瑟琳: 問(wèn)題就在這里，你真該被解雇。
gordon: why?
戈登: 為什么？
katherine: you work in a shoe shop and if you don’t even know where your feet are, then there’s no future for you there. now get a move on before i put my foot in your mouth.
凱瑟琳: 你在鞋店工作，但居然不知自己腳踏何地，我覺得你在鞋店也不會(huì)有什么前途。你再不動(dòng)身，別怪我不客氣了。
gordon: alright, alright, i’m leaving.
戈登: 好的，好的，我馬上出門。
