    香港迪士尼樂園  hong kong disneyland opens 

    hong kong disneyland, the u.s. walt disney co.’s 11th theme park in the world and the first in china, opened on september 12th.（香港迪士尼，美國迪斯尼公司的全球第11家主題公園，也是中國第一家，在9月12日開園）
    the park estimates（估計(jì)） that it will attract 5.6 million visitors in its opening year and is expected to draw up to 7.4 million annually （年年）after 15 years. about 40 percent of the visitors are expected to come from the mainland.
 

walt disney officials said that choosing hong kong as the first place of china to build disneyland had three reasons: hong kong people are wonderful; hong kong is a beautiful city and hong kong is the richest city in china.
    the us$3.5 billion’s park is a joint venture （合資企業(yè)）between disney and the hong kong government. it employs 5,000 workers.
    the park is a 30-minute subway ride from central hong kong, and it’s served by its own public railway line—the only one in the world specially built for a theme park. （全世界唯一的專門為一個(gè)主題公園修的鐵路）the train has windows shaped like mickey mouse’s head and the subway cars sport velvet（天鵝絨） theater seats and statues（塑像）of disney characters.
    the project was announced（正式宣布） in 1999 and the construction began in 2003. disney’s other parks are in tokyo, paris and the united states’ california and florida.
    the company said that disney had been talking to the government in shanghai about opening a park that wouldn’t open until at least 2010.
